When Katie worked as a dental assistant after high school, she spotted a bit of blood during an extraction and nearly passed out on top of the patient. That’s when she figured she’d better give up her dream of a career in the medical field. So creative and resourceful Katie took Tim Gunn’s advice to “Make it work!” Now she designs and manages RJE’s projects for the government. Outside of work, travel seems to be a theme for Katie. She loves the Back to the Future movie trilogy. Of course, the DeLorean in the movie works far better for time travel than her tiny Nissan Versa hatchback. She resembles Samantha Brown, the queen of the Travel Channel, but Katie has visited just seven countries so far. When she’s not traveling, Katie enjoys sewing, crafts, and Cake—the alternative rock band, not the yummy dessert, though it’s pretty good as a dessert, too.
